While former president Bill Clinton will swear in Bill de Blasio at City Hall tomorrow at noon, de Blasio actually becomes mayor at midnight. To do the late-night honors, de Blasio has selected NY State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman to swear him in.

A press release from de Blasio's transition team reads: "Following tradition, Mayor-Elect Bill de Blasio will be officially sworn in during an intimate ceremony at 12:01 AM on January 1, 2014. The swearing in, officiated by Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, will be at the Mayor-Elect's home in Park Slope, Brooklyn."

It will be livestreamed on NYC.gov, which is great because the press is not allowed. The Associated Press is demanding access to the ceremony, arguing that streaming the event means it isn't private after all. When Bloomberg was sworn in for his first term, he did it after the Times Square New Year's ball drop.

The new First Family—Chirlane McCray and kids Chiara and Dante—will be present. De Blasio said, "We are excited to share this important moment with the people of New York. From live-streaming the midnight swearing-in to reserving tickets for the general public to the ceremony at City Hall, Inauguration 2014 will be open and accessible to people from across the five boroughs."
