The NYPD has arrested a 16-year-old boy they say spray-painted the word "Jew" on the front door of a home in the Riverdale section of the Bronx this weekend, along with two accomplices.
The teen, who lives on Sylvan Avenue in the Bronx, has been charged with criminal mischief as a hate crime, having allegedly defaced the home of 77-year-old resident Philip Michael on Saturday night. Michael, who is reportedly the father of an assistant state attorney general, told police he spotted the graffiti while grabbing the newspaper on Sunday morning.
"You wonder is this just a prank, or is this something serious, or is this something to worry about, and you think about all that’s going on these days," Michael told CBS 2 on Monday.
Earlier this week, police released surveillance video of the trio they believe were responsible for the defacement:
The NYPD said investigators have identified the other two people in the video, but they "will not be charged at this time."
