Two men were shot and killed at a Brownsville playground Friday night, according to the NYPD.
Police responded to a report of gunshots at Howard Playground, located near the corner of Mother Gaston Boulevard and Glenmore Avenue in Brooklyn, just before 10:30 p.m., officials said. When officers arrived, they found 33-year-old Deon Miller had been shot in the neck and 35-year-old Antoine Utsey had been shot in the chest and ankle, police said.
Emergency responders took Miller to Interfaith Medical Center and Utsey to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, police said. Both men died as a result of their injuries.
As of Saturday morning, police said they had no additional information about the shooting. The department has made no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
The playground sits within the Howard Houses complex, a NYCHA development.
The 73rd Precinct, which covers Brownsville, had recorded five murders this year through Sept. 6, compared with three at the same point last year, according to the NYPD's most recent data.
