Thinking of going to spend a relaxing weekend of fun in the sun down in Miami? Just be wary if some sexy Latvian ladies seem to show a little too much interest you. Just ask former WCBS weatherman John Bolaris (now employed at WTXF in Philadelphia) who on a trip to Miami last year was slipped roofies by a pair of beauties twice and had $43,000 in booze and caviar charged to his AmEx.

The story—which is so filled with scenes straight out of crime shows and movies that American Express didn't believe it—starts with the weatherman, absent his usual Florida travel companion, being approached by two women at a bar. Despite his protestations, they forced some shots on him and he woke up the next morning, vaguely remembering being at a charity auction, "in a taxi. My shirt was stained with red wine, and I had this huge painting of a woman's head." And it gets better.

He tracked down Marina and Anna, who said he had bid for the painting at the fundraiser. They met him at his hotel—ostensibly to return his sunglasses, which they had taken by accident—and promised to straighten the whole thing out, if only Bolaris would share a cab with them to the Caviar Bar, where one of the women said she left her purse.

Bolaris obliged. Then he was drugged again, according to the FBI.

"They got me twice," he said. "I couldn't put anything together. I had no idea what happened."

Eventually AmEx called to ask about the huge expenses on his card, which he explained were clearly part of a scam. The company, however, didn't believe him and said he was liable. When he wouldn't pay they eventually sent a collection agency on him, hurting his credit (he's suing).

But the FBI did believe Bolaris and asked him to be a witness before a grand jury. Turns out the women were part of an Eastern European ring which used "bar girls" to lure wealthy marks to fake clubs not open to the public where their accounts could be drained as they were filled with drink.

So yeah, if you are approached by some buxom beauties who try to force shots down your throat, think carefully before you swallow!
