It was an ordinary Sunday night in Springfield Gardens, Queens, but it turned violent when an 11-year-old boy was shot after answering the door. The father the victim, Tyshaun Falconer, says his son told him, "Daddy, I think I got shot." Tyshaun, a student at I.S 59, had told the person at the door that his older brother, Tony Falconer Jr., was not at home right before the hooded man shot him in the chest.
The father, Tony Falconer Sr., described realizing Tyshaun was shot: "I took off his shirt. I saw the hole in the middle of his chest. I almost fainted myself. I couldn't keep my emotions back. I was losing it. He told his mom, ‘Sorry I opened the door.’” The bullet hit Tyshuan's chest and exited through his arm, "missing all major organs." He is in stable condition at Long Island Jewish Medical Center.
As for Tony Jr., he said the bullet was meant for him, "Someone wants me dead. This is related to what happened [five] weeks ago. Try to send a message." The previous incident he's referring to is supposedly a dispute over a girl (Tony Jr.'s cousin was shot) - his father said, "It was over a girl. It's rivalry s--- going on. He [Tony Jr.] said he's not involved. He had no beef with anyone." - but the Daily News reports that, according to the NYPD, there has been ongoing violence. Tony Jr. has spoken to he police.
The shooter who is still at large was described by Falconer Sr. as being "fair-skinned" with "freckles on his face and a mole on his cheek."
