Police on Monday released new photos and details about a man they suspect shot an NFL player in Midtown Manhattan early Sunday, asking the public to help look for him.
NYPD officials said the gunman who seriously injured New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd, 29, was last seen wearing a black cap, black sweatshirt, black pants, multicolored sneakers and a black backpack. They said the shooting stemmed from a dispute but were still investigating what it was about and whether Boyd and the alleged shooter knew each other.
Officers responded to the shooting around 2 a.m. outside an Asian fusion restaurant on West 38th Street near Seventh Avenue, according to police. The Jets confirmed the victim was Boyd but declined further comment. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition and is now stable, officials said.

Boyd signed with the Jets in March and has been on the team’s injured reserve list since getting a shoulder injury during practice in August. New York City Mayor Eric Adams expressed condolences for the player and his family, saying on social media, “Although we’ve gotten shootings to historic lows in our city, we must continue to work to end gun violence.”
NYPD data shows shootings have declined this year in the Midtown South Precinct, with two incidents through Nov. 9 compared to six in the same period last year. Shootings are down 23% citywide so far in 2025, according to the data.
This is a developing story based on preliminary information from police and may be updated.
