The really cold air just missed the city last night. While the temperature dropped to 18 degrees overnight at Belvedere Castle it plunged to 7 degrees in White Plains and six below in Newburgh. Despite some periods of sun today it wont' get very warm. High temperatures today across the city will be in the mid 20s and the wind will make it feel much cooler. It will probably come as no surprise to learn that, on average, the annual temperature cycle bottoms out early next week.
Tomorrow's weather fun is an Alberta Clipper. The clipper will pass way north of here but it should drag somewhat warmer air to the region and the trailing cold front might possibly bring a dusting of snow in the afternoon and evening. Look for a high on Saturday slightly above the freezing mark. A quick moving high pressure system behind the clipper will bring sunny skies on Sunday and clouds on Martin Luther King Day.
Monday's clouds are a precursor to... something on Tuesday. There's another storm a brewin' but it currently looks like it will take a more western approach along the coast. If that comes to pass we'll be in the warm portion of the storm. For now, let's fantasize about a messy rain-snow mix with freezing rain where the ground is frozen. Fun!
