Could the flashy girl from Flushing, the Nanny named Fran, be heading to Washington? She'd sure like that! Fran Drescher, television's Nanny and owner of one of the more distinct voices working, someday thinks she'd like to run for elected office. And she isn't interested in a paltry two-year contract to work the House. Drescher says that "ideally I'd rather run in the Senate."

Rumors that Drescher might go into politics have been around for a few years now, but now she's gone and fanned the flames again. On an appearance on Anderson set to air Monday, Drescher talked about politics with the Coop.

Apparently Drescher has been encouraged by folks on both sides of the aisle to run and it is "something that I see on the horizon." The reason she wants to run for the Senate is because then "you don't have to waste so much time trying to raise money you can actually do work." Plus, the Senate is "a smaller group, it's a hundred people so it's a little more manageable."

And yes, she wants to run in New York. Since it is a bit late to run against Kristen Gillibrand, we guess Chuck Schumer better stay on his toes? We'd make a "watch out C.S." joke here but then we'd have The Nanny theme song stuck in our heads... dammit, too late.
