The Post reports that police are investigating whether a 13-year-old girl was raped in a downtown park's men's room yesterday. The paper reports that the "girl who sources said is a runaway told cops that a man dragged her into a Battery Park men’s room yesterday and raped her."

The girl was walking in the park mid-day yesterday when a "man wearing a blue puffy jacket and dark pants pounced on her... She told authorities that her 5-foot-8 attacker raped her inside a public men’s room after he grabbed her near the Battery Gardens at State Street and dragged her into the secluded spot."

She said that man ran away on State Street after she left the bathroom. Police are looking for for possible surveillance footage. In 2011, there were 13 rapes in the 1st Precinct; in September, when addressing the community concerns about the rise in sexual assaults, the NYPD noted most of the incidents were "acquaintance" rape.
