A woman was fatally shot during a Queens mugging—because she refused to hand over her purse. According to the Post, "Rabie Mohammed, 23, was walking on 204th Street near 93rd Avenue with her husband around 8:30 p.m. when three thugs demanded her belongings."
Mohammed allegedly refused and was shot twice in the chest (her husband was not injured). She died at Jamaica Hospital. The police have not made any arrests yet. Her husband's brother told the Daily News he was shocked, "I don't think she put up a fight. They never go out looking for trouble."
The National Crime Prevention Council has previously recommended that people, when in a mugging situation, hand over what the muggers want. And during the Big Apple's days of higher crime rates, people would walk around with mugger money.
