Yesterday evening, a man stole a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee that was idling at East Kingsbridge Road and Morris Avenue in the Bronx. Also in the car: A 7-month-old baby girl inside. Luckily, police found the Jeep about an hour later—with the baby inside—thanks to a call... from the thief.

According to the Post, Patrick Julbe, 27, went to take a look at cellphone cases at a Boost Mobile store at the intersection around 6:18 p.m: "He left his girlfriend, Jennifer Rodriguez, and their baby, Ayanna Julbe, who was sleeping, in the running 2005 Grand Cherokee outside, they said. Julbe tried to show Rodriguez a cellphone case through the window. But she couldn’t see, so she got out and went in the store, police and friends said."

That's when the thief made his move. But he soon realized that little Ayanna was in the backseat, prompting him to call 911 twice (from upper Manhattan) to indicate that the car was at Goble Place and Jerome Avenue in the Bronx. He reportedly said, "There’s a baby in the back seat of the car." Police found the car at 7:40 p.m. and Ayanna was taken to Montefiore Hospital. Julbe's ex-girlfriend told the Post that the baby is "fine. She’s doing well, thank God."

The NYPD has released video of the suspect as he tried to park the stolen Jeep at a parking garage at 1521 Inwood Avenue. The NYPD described him as a Hispanic male, heavy-set, wearing a black and white striped shirt, jeans and a baseball cap.
