Two cyclists were struck by vehicles last night in Brooklyn and Manhattan leaving the riders in critical condition.
The first incident occurred in Midwood at around 8:53 p.m. when a Jeep traveling eastbound on Avenue M stuck a male cyclist at the intersection of 18th Street. Authorities say the man "rode out in front of the Jeep," and the vehicle remained at the scene while the victim was transported to Lutheran Hospital in serious condition.
At Christopher Street and Hudson Street in the West Village, a cyclist was hit by a vehicle at around 11:38 p.m. According to an FDNY spokesman the victim was "unconscious" and transported to Bellevue in critical condition.
The NYPD says no criminality is suspected in the first incident, and no additional information was available about the second.
