Three crew members were rescued from the New York Harbor at about 9:45 this morning after their tugboat, the Katherine G., overturned near Liberty Island, according to an FDNY spokesman. The workers were reportedly trying to use a crane to lift something onboard, which may have triggered a shift in weight that caused the boat to capsize upon its departure from Liberty Island's work dock.
The men were pulled to safety by officers from the NYPD Harbor Unit soon after the boat overturned, and taken for medical treatment. Their injuries are believed to be minor. At least one person was reportedly transferred into an ambulance via a stretcher.
