A group of thieves are targeting New York City stores for their ATMs, a crime spree that seemed to begin in early September. The most recent incident was October 14th.
The NYPD released details about nine different incidents where three suspects have burglarized stores—in five cases, they fully removed the ATMs themselves. Below, video of two of the suspects dragging an ATM from a store while the third waits in a car:
While the total amount of money they made away with is unclear, some hauls ranged from around $2,000 to $6500. The storefronts were mostly in Bushwick, but they also hit Ozone Park in Queens, and Staten Island.
Police describe the three suspects as males who performed the robberies wearing sweatshirts and masks, and carrying baseball hats.
