If you were foolish enough to leave your apartment today to make money to feed your family, you're in for a treat of an evening commute. The MTA just announced a series of storm-related service changes that are set to kick off this afternoon, so let's all hop on a Citi Bike Blizzard Sled and call it a day, shall we?

For starters, the MTA has already suspended a Brooklyn section of the N train, with southbound service running via the D Line south of 36 St. Once snow's off the tracks there, they'll be restoring service and suspending it on the northbound track, also south of 36th Street; those trains will run along the D Line as well, though the MTA hopes to get all that out of the way by rush hour. It's also possible that outdoor tracks on the Rockaway shuttle Queens 7 train, B and Q trains in Brighton and Bronx 5 train tracks will need the same treatment later, so stay tuned.

There will be no express service on the 6 in the Bronx or on the 7 in Queens. And post-rush hour, the MTA plans to cut express service on a number of yet-to-be announced lines, so you'll have to travel local into Friday.

There's more joy ahead if you're heading out of the city—Metro-North will be running hourly trains starting at 4 p.m., with the possibility of further reduced service depending on track conditions. The LIRR, on the other hand, will be restoring hourly service between Hicksville and Huntington and will run on two hour intervals between Huntington and Port Jefferson, though they may be canceling Westbound service on Port Jefferson lines later in the day. If you can escape early, they're adding a number of early eastbound trains starting at 2:08 p.m., and running on the Babylon, Port Washington and Port Jefferson branches.
