Earlier this morning, a 15-year-old girl tried to kill herself by throwing herself in front of a Manhattan-bound R train in Brooklyn. The Daily News reports, "She survived after mistiming her leap and slamming into the side of the train, police said."
The incident occurred at the 53rd Street R station at 4th Avenue. A passenger on the train tells us, "I was inside the first car of an R train that struck someone at 53rd Street this morning. The conductor said that she jumped right in front of him... There were at least 3 firetrucks, two police cars and one ambulance when I left the station. It was a terrible scene, people were very upset."
The girl is in critical condition at Lutheran Hospital.
