Prior to his Today show appearance this morning, Ted Williams (the man with the golden voice) was going to finally reunite with his 90-year-old mother, Julia Williams. The reunion was to take place at the airport, where Early Show co-anchor Chris Wragge accompanied Julia, who hasn't seen her son—who has been homeless and panhandling in Ohio—in over almost 20 years. The reunion didn't happen however, as it was ambushed by another media outlet! CBS reports that he was quickly whisked away before the two could see each other.

Julia told Wragge, "I wanted to be there when he got off the plane. But it's alright. God has answered my prayer. I prayed that I would live to see this time when he would do well." (She also said he was named after the baseball player!) Williams has been talking about his mom, who still lives in Bed-Stuy in the apartment he was raised in, and told the Early Show on Wednesday, "I haven't seen my mom in, in great deal of time. One of my, one of my, my biggest prayers that I sent out was that she would live long enough for me to, you know, rebound or whatever. And I guess God kept her around, and he kept my pipes around, you know, to, to maybe just have one more shot..."

Now the Columbus Dispatch (responsible for bringing Williams to the spotlight) reports that the two network have made up and allowed them to reunite. (Well, wasn't that nice of them.) Below is video of the reunion, which will make you cry like a baby:

Next up for Ted Williams: an appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (the host is buying him some clothes, since he only owns this one outfit). He also recorded his Kraft Macaroni & Cheese commercial, that will air on ESPN during the Fight Hunger Bowl on Sunday. He also has a slew of other offers, and in the above video seems a bit overwhelmed—so hopefully he gets a few days away from the spotlight to regroup.
