Summer weather returns! Not the unbearably hot and sticky stuff either. Thanks to a cute little high pressure system centered over Southern Ontario we should have a mostly sunny afternoon with a high in the low 80s. Tomorrow should be a wee bit warmer and more humid, but still very pleasant.
Tomorrow's increased humidity will eventually turn into cloudy skies and probably a few showers. Friday is looking cool and wet as a cold front sweeps across the region. Look for a below normal high in the mid 70s and a good chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms. Once that front passes the weather turns very sweet for the weekend. Sweet as in mostly sunny skies and highs in the low 80s, which is slightly warmer than normal for mid-June, for both Saturday and Sunday.
We mentioned the normal temperatures a few times above because those normals, they are a changin'. Every ten years the National Climatic Data Center does a lot of number crunching and calculates the daily normal temperature and precipitation values for the most recent three-decade period. Starting next month the old 1971-2000 normals will be replaced with the 1981-2010 normals. Preliminary numbers averaged over the whole country show that daily highs have gone up a tenth of a degree while daily lows have increased by 0.6 degrees.
