There will always be burglaries, and recently there have been a fewparticularly in SoHo and the Village. And though police haven't necessarily found the thieves in each case, they have been able to successfully narrow down possible accomplices to one person: you!?!

Police say that a slew of apartment burglaries and robberies could have been avoided had tenants just not let the thief in the building’s front door when they buzzed. One such suspect, Christopher Rodriguez, told officers who arrested him how easy it was to get into his victims buildings: “I rang the bell to get in. I rang and said, ‘U.P.S., U.P.S." This is exactly why we can't trust any mail that is not electronic.

So it seems obvious, but seriously: don't just buzz any muffled voice into your building. We know you don't want to end up in a situation like Jerry Seinfeld and his neighbor with the parrot, but you also don't want to end up with a hefty burglar riffling through your things, either.
