Police are asking the public to look out for a teenage mother who went missing from a Brooklyn shelter Monday night with her infant son.

NYPD officials said 17-year-old Kristina Ortiz left a residential program for young parents on Dean Street near Nostrand Avenue in Crown Heights with her 2-month-old son, Colin Ortiz, around 11:30 p.m. She was wearing a black jacket with gray pants, while he was wearing a beige onesie, according to police.

The facility where police said the Ortizes were living is listed online as a prenatal and parenting residential program for teen moms in foster care. Officials said they were investigating why Ortiz took her son and left the building.

Police described Ortiz as about 130 pounds and 5’1”. They’re asking anyone with information about the pair to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or, for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). People can also submit tips on the Crime Stoppers website.
