Eight months after 18-year-old Deontay Moore was fatally shot in the face in front of the Jacob Riis Houses, the NYPD has made an arrest in the case. According to police, 21-year-old Allah Dajon shot into the crowd that had gathered outside 118 Avenue D on the evening in late July, killing Moore. A police spokeswoman said the slaying was believed to stem from a dispute over a bicycle.

The spokeswoman added that a tip let to interviews with witnesses, who pointed to Dajon as the gunman. Dajon, whose given address is in the Vladeck Houses on the Lower East Side, has been charged with second degree murder.

Moore had dropped out of high school, but was studying for his high school diploma and caring for his 6-year-old nephew at the time he was killed. Shortly after his death, Moore's sister told DNAinfo, "He was a great uncle and he loved his nephew. He was love wherever he walked."
