Yowza, that was quite a bit of rain that fell last night. Most sections of the city appear to have received two inches or more of rain. Around the region Yorktown Heights in Westchester County led the way with 4.64 inches. Another round of heavy rain is possible later in the week. First up though are a couple days of sunshine.
High pressure is following closely on the heels of yesterday's storm and that always brings brisk winds. Since air is flowing downward off the leading edge of the approaching air mass we'll see lots of sunshine today. It's not going to get much warmer than the low 40s in the city this afternoon though. Another day of abundant sunshine is in store for tomorrow and it will be a couple degrees warmer as well.
Wednesday looks like it will start out sunny but clouds should build during the day as the center of the high pressure system moves east of us. Sneaking in behind that high will be a coastal storm that has the potential to once again dump a lot of rain on our area. It is not yet clear how fast this storm will run up the coast. Rain is likely on Thursday and possibly into much of Friday. Highs both days are currently expected to be in the low 50s.
