Just after 1:30 a.m., there were reports of delays on the G train due to a police investigation at the Classon Avenue station. A reader told us, "I was riding a G train on the south bound side just after 1:30am when it came to a screeching halt halfway into the Classon Ave Station. Directly in front of me out the opposite window was a male sprawled out at the very edge and back end of the platform, his feet, legs and bottom half of his torso visible from the train window, his upper torso, legs, and head invisible from that vantage point."
She continued:
People on the platform were crying out. There was an undercover cop there within seconds and a slew of police, EMTs, FDNY folks, etc. within 2 mins. The conductor ushered us out of the train by having us walk forward to an open door where police ordered us out of the station. I believe he was alive when we left the station. I am hoping he still is... There were 5 emergency vehicles outside when I emerged from underground and sirens heading to the area from every direction. A mass of people eventually started hoofing it to the C train, buses, etc.
Someone suggested on Twitter that the man was drunk. NYC Transit tells us that there was a "1:31 a.m. report of customer lying close to platform edge of Classon Av Station" and the man was "struck in head by Church Ave bound G train." He was taken to Kings County Hospital; his condition is unknown. We're waiting to see if the NYPD has info as well.
