Yesterday at around 5:40 p.m., a woman crossing an Upper East Side street was struck by a private garbage truck driver. And it turns out the driver had a suspended license. Laurence Renard, a 35-year-old fashion stylist, was crossing First Avenue at 90th Street "when the truck took a sharp left and smashed into her with such force that her body was severed,"according to the Post's sources.

A witness told the Post, "The truck came around the corner like a bat out of hell. This thing was massive and she never saw it coming. She didn't stand a chance." Renard, who lived in a building at the intersection, died at the scene. The Daily News reports, "After the accident, pedestrians raced to block other vehicles from running over Renard's body," and one witness said, "People were screaming for cars not to go through."

Diego Tapia-Ulloa was charged with driving with a suspended license. Renard's brother told the News that she had styled for Victoria's Secret and was working on an Abercrombie & Fitch campaign; he also said she was the "biggest-hearted person I knew." And photographer Bruce Weber who had worked with her told DNAinfo, "She was a really lovely girl, who just had a lot of good energy and excitement about working in the fashion industry."
