A woman died and four people were injured in a multivehicle crash on Bruckner Boulevard in the Bronx early Friday, police said.
NYPD officials said the woman was driving a white sedan east on the road, which runs along the Bruckner Expressway. Around 4:40 a.m., near the intersection of Bruckner and Sheridan boulevards in Hunts Point, she collided with a tractor-trailer and box truck both in the left lane, according to police.
The woman did not survive the crash, officials said. Her two passengers — a 29-year-old man in the front and a 26-year-old woman in the back — were taken to Lincoln Hospital in stable condition. The drivers of the tractor-trailer and box truck, 29 and 26, respectively, were also taken to the same hospital in stable condition.
Officials said their investigation into the crash is ongoing. They did not immediately identify the woman who died as they worked to notify her family.
At least 30 people have died in more than 5,300 traffic collisions involving injuries in the Bronx so far this year, according to NYPD data. That’s down nearly 40% from the same time last year, when 49 people had died in almost 6,000 collisions involving injuries.
This is a developing story based on preliminary information from police and may be updated.
