Today is your last chance to sign up for healthcare through the Affordable Health Act, and since everybody loves a reunion special, the NY State of Health Marketplace has been crashing all morning. Attempts to access healthcare registration have resulted in sad error messages apologizing for the "high volume of users" trying to suckle the teat of the God-Fearing American Taxpayer finally obtain affordable health insurance for themselves and their families. The Post reports that the Obamacare mothership site, the infamous and elusive HealthCare.gov, went down entirely at 3 a.m.; though it seems to be back up now, the New York site's been experiencing spotty service.
We contacted the state Health Department to find out if and when the enrollment issues will be resolved, but have not heard back. It's worth noting, though, that as of yesterday over 812,000 New Yorkers have enrolled via the marketplace, with 100,000 enrolling just last week. You have until 11:59 p.m. tonight to sign up for healthcare in 2014; today is also the last day for small business owners to enroll for coverage starting in May.
