Long Island resident Barbara Bottiglieri is traumatized after a weekend argument with neighbor Jamie Sanchez, which resulted in Sanchez grabbing her dachshund's leash and swinging the dog up and across the street. "That vision will stick in my head for the rest of my life," she told the Daily News. Sanchez was reportedly angry over Bottiglieri's letting her pooch poop on his lawn, but Bottiglieri claims she never allowed her dog, Coco, to do such a thing. "I said, 'What are you talking about? I have manners; my dog didn't do anything on your property.'"
Sanchez pleaded not guilty to animal torture and endangerment charges, and is being held in jail on bail of $2,500 or bond of $5,000. A judge also issued an order of protection against Sanchez. Bottiglieri had been walking Coco by Sanchez's house when he warned her not to let the dog on his lawn, something Sanchez's wife claims Bottiglieri does all the time. Sanchez threatened Bottiglieri, and when she said she'd call the police, Sanchez grabbed Coco's leash and launched her across the street. Coco suffered a tail injury and ruptured stitches from a recent spaying.
Sanchez reportedly told his wife he simply "moved" the pup off their property. And even though Bottiglieri said she never let Coco on their property, now's as good a time as any to start—Sanchez's wife claims Bottiglieri came back a few hours after Sanchez was arrested and let the dog pee on their lawn.
