Is Mischa Barton running out of Marissa Cooper money? She hasn't had much steady work since playing that character on The OC, which ended in 2006, and now word is she's not paying her rent.
She's moved to 39 Walker Street last September when she was filming her (now canceled) television series The Beautiful Life. (This followed her brief stint as a real-life involuntary psychiatric patient at Cedars-Sinai.) Currently she's filming an episode of Law & Order: SVU, where she'll play a prostitute — reportedly she's bombing on set, due to too much partying around town. (It airs March 3rd!)
Her latest real life drama, however, is coming from her landlord, who says she's refused to pay her $7,000/month rent for the last three months. The actress has a one year lease on the space that's not set to run out until September 2010, but according to the Daily News she hasn't lived there since October.
The NY Post reports that landlord, M.R.A. Realties Inc., has now filed a lawsuit claiming that "Barton rebuffed efforts to collect the last three months’ worth of rent," and they want her to pay up, as well as cover their legal fees.
