A 29-year-old man from Athens, Georgia was found dead at the Pierre Hotel on the Upper East Side this morning, and authorities believe he overdosed on prescription drugs.
According to police, Davis Evans was found unconscious and unresponsive in his room at the Pierre at around 9 a.m. today. Cops say he displayed no obvious signs of trauma, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Daily News reports that a woman was with him when police arrived, and told authorities Evans was in the city on business. Empty prescription bottles were also reportedly found at the scene.
"It looks like an accidental overdose," a source told the tabloid. "It appears he took too many pills."
The Medical Examiner's office is investigating the cause of death.
