Volvo has announced that it has signed Jeremy Lin to an endorsement deal to "help in the marketing efforts of Volvo in several international markets and help establish the brand with younger and performance-oriented customers." Thank goodness Baron Davis is injured!
The Swedish carmaker is now owned by China's Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co. The Wall Street Journal notes, "The symbolism of such a deal would be rich... The company is trying to boost Volvo sales in China as part of a strategy to double the brand’s global sales to 800,000 vehicles by 2020. Geely plans to invest up to $11 billion in the effort." In a prepared statement, Lin said, "You may not immediately see the connection between me and Volvo. But both of us are striving to be better and smarter at what we do, and to do it our own way."
