We knew the papers wouldn't let the story of Carlina White go just yet. And with Ann Pettway—who is charged with kidnapping White as a baby and raising her as her own—being held without bail, where else could they look for conflict than the relationship between White and her long-estranged mother? So naturally today we get the sad story that Joy White is upset because her daughter is distant and only wants to talk about money.

Apparently after her made-for-the-tabloids reunion with her parents Carlina returned to Atlanta, where she has a daughter of her own, and has also stayed in contact with the Pettway family. Neither of which is what bothers her real mother. What is bothering her is that, like most 23-year-olds, Carlina barely calls and when she does she wants to talk about money. Specifically settlement money which Joy White simply doesn't have anymore. The cash they received from Harlem Hospital when Carlina disappeared has been spent. "It's gone, we don't have the money," Joy told the News. "At the time things were really rocky with me. I have two other kids and I had to take care of myself."

It sounds to us like the White family is now entering regular people problems again and should be left to do so in peace. But before we do, Carlina? Call your mother. She just got you back and she misses you. No reason to make her use a tabloid to get you to pick up the phone. And if you want money, no problem! You know that Lifetime is just itching to make an epic movie about your life.
