Perhaps you recall the two in-debt Midtown jewlers who hired two men to rob their store so they could save their business with $7 million in insurance money. No? Certainly you remember that the robbers were dressed as Hasidic Jews in a scene straight out of Snatch? Yeah, those guys. Well, you'll be interested to know that the jewelers in question, Mahaveer Kankariya and Atul Shah, were found guilty today on seven counts of grand larceny, insurance fraud and other crimes.

The two men's undoing came from the fact that not only did they empty out the safe in their store before the robbers came but they then tried (and failed) to destroy their surveillance equipment with Drano and lied about it to the authorities. Unfortunately for the duo, insurance techs had no problem recovering the footage.

Also? They claimed they thought the robbers (who as we said were dressed as Hasidic Jews) were "couriers" something that the judge on the case found "frankly ridiculous."

In his ruling the Judge concluded: "It is clear to me that this was a conspiracy and could not have worked any other way...This was the most difficult thing I've done in my career. I find the defendants guilty."
