After the Daily News revealed that the parents of a 16-year-old student were going to sue the city because his teacher allegedly seduced him, the teacher surrendered to authorities yesterday. Erin Sayar, 36, turned herself in and was charged with rape, criminal sex act, sexual misconduct, and sexual abuse.
Sayar, who is married and has a baby daughter, is accused of robbing the innocence of student Kevin Eng, her student at James Madison High School—dubbed "Horndog High" by the tabloids because of an alleged lesbian teacher tryst in a classroom. His parents filed a legal notice alleging that she had sex with the 11th grader at least eight times—including in her SUV—last December when she was supposed to be tutoring him. She also allegedly plied him with pot (kept in an office filing cabinet) and exchanged 3,856 text messages with Eng.
Eng was reportedly able to "describe tattoos on intimate parts of the teacher’s body." A student said, "I had classes with Kevin and with Ms. Sayar. They always talked. It was weird. Honestly she was a great teacher. I loved her. She was my favorite teacher."
Sayar, who is being arraigned today, told reporters yesterday, "I would love to comment, but I have been told by several lawyers that I should not say anything."
