The double homicide that took the lives of a Marine Park husband and wife remains unsolved, but authorities are expected to arraign four individuals for money scams connected with the 2008 execution-style killings. So far, no one has been indicted for shooting and killing lawyers Christina Petrowski-Schwartz, 48, and Mark Schwartz, 50, in their Brooklyn home—but investigators believe the killings were connected with "wide-ranging financial scams" that might have involved the deceased attorneys.
Police have arrested four individuals on charges of enterprise corruption, money laundering and mortgage fraud, according to the Daily News. One of them is Robert Delvicario Jr., a former business partner and one-time U.S. Customs agent who was considered a person of interest in the slayings. "We're not sure what this indictment is all about," said his lawyer. "We know he's been a suspect in the murder. We adamantly deny any involvement with the murder." Also indicted are three corporations that were controlled by Schwartz and his wife.
Investigators started to think that Schwartz—a divorce lawyer—and Petrowski-Schwartz—a divorce mediator—might have been killed over money when $150,000 was found to be missing from the couple's law firm. Shortly after the killings, Delvicario opened a car wash on Long Island, where one of the other suspects in the scams sold cars. An odd detail in the case is Schwartz's will, in which he requested that his body be dressed in scuba-diving gear and "cast over the side of a vessel into the ocean where I may rest undisturbed." He also threatened to "curse" friends, writing to Delvicario: "[N]ever will your gun shoot when you need it."
