For 41 years now, Jets fans have been dreaming of another Superbowl title. But one man from Chappaqua decided to actually do something about it. Tom Schonberg decided to name his son "Jake Edward Thomas Schonberg," or J.E.T.S. And hey, look at that, the Jets are one game away from the Superbowl.
In this video from ESPN First Take, Schonberg says he grew up being told that his birth in 1970 cursed the Jets, and that "it was my time to reverse the curse." Schonberg's support seems to know no bounds. He postponed his honeymoon for a Jets game, had a Jet ice sculpture at his wedding, and flies out to every Jets playoff game. Jake may just be the winning factor in this Jets season, just ahead of Rex Ryan's diet and Mark Sanchez.
