Remember Jeb Corliss? The daredevil that dared attempt to jump off the Empire State Building back in 2006 is back in the papers, with word that the $12 million lawsuit the landmark building filed against him is about to be settled. According to the NY Post, the civil case was closed last week, and Corliss's lawyer Mark Jay Heller says a confidential deal was reached... though building owners say it's not finalized (until next week sometime).
Heller says the daredevil is “very, very pleased with the resolution. It’s been a tremendous drain and emotional strain on him.” Corliss has been dealing with the consequences of his actions for 5 years now, after he snuck into the building wearing a parachute under a fat suit (which he changed out of once reaching the 86th floor). Security stopped him, and instead of base jumping the building, he spiraled into a long legal battle.
Now, will the building ever life Corliss's lifelong ban? After all, even Philip Petit (who walked a wire between the Twin Towers) has been invited back to wire walk around Manhattan.
