In a valiant attempt to save the deer he drunkenly hit with his car, Andrew Caswell picked up the injured animal, loaded it into his backseat, and was rushing it to the hospital before being rudely interrupted by cops. It did not end well for the deer.
Caswell hit the deer in the early morning hours on a road outside of Rochester. He argued with three friends over what to do with the animal before deciding that it should go to the ER of nearby Unity Hospital, renowned for its cervidae rehabilitation program geriatric care center.
Cops pulled over Caswell before he got to the hospital and discovered the deer, which unfortunately died before ever reaching Unity. Caswell blew a .16 BAC, twice the legal limit. Police Chief Todd Baxter said that while trying to save the deer was commendable, "driving while intoxicated will not be tolerated."
