Knicks star Carmelo Anthony's Honey Nut Cheerios nightmare goes into day four as the Boston Celtics coach—and a former Knick—weighs in. Celtics coach Doc Rivers said, "Well, No. 1, I know what's been reported did not happen. I know that as a fact."

During Monday's Celtics-Knicks game, Celtics forward Garnett and Anthony were getting scrappy and Garnett said something to Anthony that made him so furious that he tried to confront Garnett outside the Celtics' team bus afterwards. Luckily, Knicks coaches, MSG security and some NYPD cops stopped him. Anthony claimed, "There’s certain things that you just don’t say to men, another man"—and the thing Garnett allegedly said was, "Your...wife tastes like Honey Nut Cheerios."

Rivers said today on a radio station, "Guys, you know how this works. A guy does something crazy like Carmelo did, and the way to get out of trouble is to say, 'Well, he said this.' It happens all the time, and what bugs me about this whole thing is this is not a Kevin Garnett issue. And it was made into one, and it shouldn't have been made into one." Rivers, though, did acknowledge that trash talking can be very provocative but says Garnett wasn't inappropriate, "It's pretty crude, I can tell you. Out there at times, you hear some crazy stuff. But when it gets racial or personal to family, then that crosses the line. But I'm going to say it again: In this case, that didn't happen... (Garnett) does (know where the line is). He does. I will say that. I've never heard him cross the line. And usually when he talks about guys, it's usually about their game or their team or what he thinks if the guy's a winner or loser."

Well, it's worth noting that Garnett called Charlie Villaneuva, who suffers from alopecia, a "cancer patient" (Garnett says he actually called him "a cancer") and called Tim Duncan a "motherf---er" (Duncan's mother died when he was 14).

Anthony has been separated from his wife Lala Anthony. The gossip columns are now reporting that the pair have been living apart for months (a Page Six source says, "During the summer they were looking for a new apartment constantly. About two months ago, that completely dried up. They don’t even return their brokers’ phone calls anymore") and if you look at Lala's Instagram, her last photograph with her husband in it is from 16 weeks ago. And a few weeks ago, Carmelo Anthony posted this to his Instagram, writing, "Anyone can figure out life when u looking back on it; but we have to live it going forward.....":

Anthony was suspended for one game for waiting for Garnett after the Monday's match. His problems with Lala apparently stem from the time she's putting into her new makeup line.
