Yesterday, police responded to a call about an assault at the Cypress Public Housing project and when they arrived, they discovered a 22-year-old who was stabbed in the torso. Kamisha Richards was pronounced dead at the hospital and sources tell the Daily News she had been in "a heated argument over $20 she lent her boyfriend's sister."

Family members say that Richards, who graduated from John Jay College and was working at JPMorgan Chase, had been staying "on-and off" at the project where her boyfriend lived. The police are continuing to investigate.

Update: The Daily News has some new quotes: Richard's father says, "My daughter takes care of the whole family there. (The sister) had a baby recently. My daughter gave her $20 to go buy some milk and Pampers. She went and spent the money on something else. They argued about it. ... She waited for her to come home from work, and did her." And a relative of Richards' boyfriend's sister claims the stabbing was self-defense, "[The sister] said she didn't mean to do it. They were arguing. Kamisha tried to stab her with scissors, and it was self-defense. She said that she came at her and she had to do it. She was sorry. That's all she kept saying, that it wasn't supposed to be like this."
