Did you think that the NYPD would keep those T3 electric standup scooters' roaming restricted to subway stations alone? A subway rider saw one on the shuttle train between Times Square and Grand Central, prompting a reaction that surely spanned the range from "What the!" to "Well, at least he's not parked in the bike lane."
Last fall, the T3 scooters were unveiled, prompting one tour guide to write on his Facebook page, "NEW YORK SUBWAYS HAVE GONE 'MALL COP'"! (The guide also told the Daily News, "Tourists love to see that type of thing.") The NYPD has 29 of the vehicles, which are useful because they give cops added height to check out subway activity but they are not intended for pursuits. However, as you can see from this video, these babies can move and cops do expect you to make fun of them.
