At the White House Correspondents Dinner in Washington Saturday night, Jimmy Kimmel cracked wise about husky New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who was in the audience seated next to television's Sofia Vergara. Kimmel made three jokes at Christie's expense, first telling the health-conscious first lady that Christie was in the audience and that she should "get him." Then, directly addressing the governor, Kimmel said, "You might be misunderstanding the New Jersey state slogan. It's not the 'Olive' Garden State." Here's video, in case you missed it:
At a press conference yesterday, Christie shrugged off the jabs, telling reporters, "The minute he started joking about the president being too thin, believe me, I figured I was in the zone of danger. I have no problem, as you know, laughing at myself. When you’re overweight, fair or unfair, there’s going to be those who make really awful comments about you and there are going to be people who make jokes about it. That’s the way it goes."
Fortunately for Christie, he had Vergara at his side: "When you have her next to you to console you, let me tell you, you don’t care what the heck Jimmy Kimmel said." Also, you know Vergara wasn't going to eat all her dessert.
