Connecticut bus driver Daren Scott was experiencing a painful erection in April 2009, and instead of running to the first beachside bathtub he could find, he wisely went to the Yale-New Haven Hospital ER for treatment. But according to CBS, Scott's "disabling erection" was ignored, and after being told by staff to wait, "he noticed that the facility’s staff, including physicians on duty, was watching the [baseball] game on TV." Scott is suing the hospital for $2 million, but he should read the fine print on the Hippocratic Oath: "Do No Harm (until after the 8th inning when the Red Sox are up by 2)."
Everyone knows that baseball games are brief, action-packed affairs, but it wasn't just that hospital staff made him wait an hour for treatment.
Scott said he checked into an emergency medical facility...but was told he had to move his bus because he had parked it in the wrong place.
It's amazing Scott wasn't committed for a mental health evaluation after his life literally turned into a nightmarish episode of Benny Hill written by 13-year-old boys. According to his lawsuit, he waited another four hours before he received treatment, which ended up being ineffective.
The hospital claims that Scott is to blame for his condition, “by failing to follow reasonable medical advice regarding his care and treatment."
