jlobutt.jpgA do-it-herself cosmetic unprofessional is promising women butts that look like J. Lo's, but is more likely threatening her clients' lives. Earlier this week, NY Post reported an Atlanta woman who concocted her own fly-in fly-out business, charging woman thousands of dollars for what could be an extremely dangerous and disfiguring procedure.

Kimberly Smedley, who has Georgia shoplifting convictions, is described as cramming almost a dozen women into a Manhattan hotel room to undergo a procedure where Smedley injects liquid "medical grade silicone"--about ten shots per cheek--into women, despite her admission that she is neither a doctor nor nurse. The "medical grade silicone" is stored by Smedley in a gallon-sized Poland Spring jug.

Surgical enhancement of the buttocks is an actual procedure that has grown increasingly popular among women looking to emulate celebrities like Jennifer Lopez and Beyonce Knowles. These procedures are performed by trained medical surgeons, however, and involve the implantation of solid silicone implants between or beneath gluteal muscles while the patient is under general anesthesia.

The results of Smedley's routine can include hardened, misshapen lumps on the buttocks and discoloration - even death if someone accidentally injects silicone into a vein or artery and causing a clot. And if someone is storing his or her silicone in a Poland Spring jug, there's the possibility that it's actually industrial silicone, which can contain contaminants. In short, it could be bad booty.
