A teenage girl was arrested for engaging in the time-honored tradition of attempting to ditch out on her cab fare and secretly stashing a bottle of booze in her purse. And this was no crosstown ride—think more like across state lines.

19-year-old Jusila Gonzalez, of Schenectady, hailed a taxi at Broadway and 41st St and took it the Plainfield, New Jersey, before telling the driver that she had no cash monies. She then told the cabbie that her friend who lived at the Plainfield address she'd directed him to would cover her ride, but she wasn’t sure where the apartment was located in the building. The cabbie "physically restrained" Gonzalez until police arrived, at which point a bottle of Heineken, of all things, was discovered in her purse. Heineken—the drink of champions!

Police say Gonzalez did not appear to be intoxicated, only “evasive," and didn't know the last name of the person in Plainfield she was supposedly meeting. Her bail was set at $1,500. Perhaps the most shocking part of this whole story is that the fare was only $123.
