People say the most incriminating things on the internets! In the wake of the arrest of New Jersey high school football coach (and Adam Sandler lookalike) Scott Rubinetti, those who allegedly knew him have taken to Facebook to speak their piece—and some of them have some interesting (if totally uncorroborated) things to say. Like the one who says "he was always enjoying some nose candy with select female students and then would sleep with them." Could that explain why at least five Lyndhurst High Schoolers wore "Free Rubinetti" shirts to school yesterday?
Most interesting is the alleged former student at Northern Valley Regional High School-Demarest who says that the coach "cleaned up at nv demarest, this is amazing. they shoudl have called him teflon rubinetti, seeem like EVERYONE except the cops knew this was going on." Rubinetti taught at Demarest for eight years, but resigned from that position before returning to his alma mater.
Whatever the internet says, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office reports that "there is no additional information for release" on the investigation. Still, here are some more comments from Facebook if you are interested:
Meanwhile, to try and calm gossiping students, Lyndhurst reportedly held an assembly yesterday, though we doubt it did too much. The married 39-year-old Rubinetti has been accused of sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and witness tampering (he allegedly told his underage paramour to lie to the police if questioned about their "inappropriate sexual conduct with each other," according to county Prosecutor John Molinelli). He is currently out on $150,000 bail he posted through a bondsman.
