An 8-year-old boy took a loaded 9mm pistol to his school in Flushing yesterday and sold it to a third-grade classmate. The deal went down at P.S. 107, and sources tell the Post the gun had its serial numbers scratched off. Everything about the transaction went swimmingly until the buyer, age 9, went home and bragged about the amazing deal to his mother. He reportedly paid just $3 for it! What is going on with the NYC school system; don't they teach kids basic economics anymore?

All he had to do was run a quick Internet search to find the going rate for a Taurus 9mm, which cost upwards of $300—and that doesn't include bullets. The whole deal unraveled after the boys mother stormed into the school and told administrators about her son's purchase. NY1 reports that both boys were taken into police custody, whereupon the precocious arms dealer quickly flipped on his father, who owns the gun.

Polices sources say the boy's father, Ignacio Galvin, 54, admitted to buying the gun a decade ago and claims he kept it in the home "for protection." He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child. His son, who also faces charges as a juvenile, reportedly thought the gun was a toy. Even so, you can't get a decent toy gun for less than $10 these days. Somehow we don't see a sales career in this kid's future.
