From the About Friggin' Time File: Sushi Samba announced today that it's removed endangered bluefin tuna from all seven locations nationwide. Atlantic and Mediterranean bluefin have been pushed to the brink of extinction in the past half century, with stocks declining by more than 60 percent in the last decade alone. Recently, President Obama endorsed a ban on international bluefin trade, which Japan is determined to oppose. Sushi Samba's CEO Michael Cressotti says, "We are aware of the issues surrounding Bluefin fishing methods and support the preservation of endangered species in our world. I hope that other restaurants will follow in our footsteps to help protect this wonderful species." The ban covers all Bluefin Tuna including Otoro Tuna and Chu Toro Tuna.
