Vinnie Goregous just isn't adjusting well to this whole "on trial for murder and racketeering" thing. First, he needed to borrow a dress shirt from the judge. Now, Vincent Basciano is unhappy with the cuisine on offer from the US Marshal, whose selection is limited to one slice of bologna on bread. Where's the beef? Fuggedaboutit!
The former Bonanno boss, who's facing the death penalty if convicted of ordering the whack of a rival mafioso, complained to his lawyer about his mealy lunch yesterday, which prompted Judge Nicholas Garaufis to quip, "He wants a sandwich from the Carnegie Deli?" (We prefer the blintzes, but to each his own.) Eventually, the judge relented and allowed Gorgeous's (nee Basciano) lawyer to buy the mobster a sandwich from the Brooklyn federal court cafeteria, with the edict that the sandwich would "be examined" prior to delivery.
It was recently revealed that in addition to being an extremely high-maintenance inmate overall, Bosciano is also a bit of a paranoid goody-goody, banning his underlings from cheek-kissing each other in public. What a prude.
