The Long Island teen whose story of academic excellence while her family fell into homelessness was back in the news yesterday.

Garvey said on the Today Show, "I would say that my research, my science, has been my ticket out."

Aww—more good things for an inspiring high school student.

Rep. Steve Israel says, "She is the epitome of the American dream."

Samantha Garvey's family will now get a home and their dog is saved!

"I do well and I pursue my passion because it’s what I have and it’s a way out, you know, and it’ll lead to better things."
