The Met said it has come to a mutual agreement with the families of Dr. Mortimer Sackler and Dr. Raymond Sackler so the museum can "further its core mission."

At a press conference on Wednesday, Deputy Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen was repeatedly asked why the Sacklers were allowed to keep a large portion of their reported fortune, given that much of it came directly from Purdue.

The museum is part of a growing group of cultural institutions distancing themselves from the family, which has been linked to the opioid crisis.

Nan Goldin and her activist group, P.A.I.N. Sackler, are calling museums to sever ties with the pharmaceutical family that's had a hand in developing OxyContin.
